As part of its 30th anniversary celebrations in 2009, work-life balance charity Working Families launched an inaugural list of the best of the best family-friendly employers from the last three decades.

The world of work has changed enormously since 1979 and here are the Top 20 organisations whose initiative and example have made positive change happen for working families. Winners have shown leadership in one or more of the following areas: flexible working, childcare provision, maternity and/or paternity policy, and help with eldercare responsibilities.
