The Institute for Employment Studies is an independent, apolitical, international centre of research and consultancy in public employment policy and organisational human resource issues. It works closely with employers in the manufacturing, service and public sectors, government departments, agencies, and professional and employee bodies.
Since 1969 the Institute has been a focus of knowledge and practical experience in employment and training policy, the operation of labour markets, and human resource planning and development. IES is a not-for-profit organisation which has over 70 multidisciplinary staff and international associates. IES expertise is available to all organisations through research, consultancy, publications and the Internet and is influential through rigorous research, evidence-based consultancy, and as expert advisor for leading employers.
The Institute's research approach can include case studies, in-depth interviews, discussion groups, large-scale quantitative and qualitative surveys of individuals and organisations (on-line, by telephone, post, and face to face), literature research, statistical analysis and modelling.
